They tell us that " A wise man interested in long and healthy life", and who seeks happiness, must exercise the highest care in selecting what is wholesome in the matter of food, conduct and behaviours
Charak has given a comprehensive and detailed account of the mode of living and rules of good conduct to be followed if we want a good, healthy and happy life. The average span of life for human beings should be one hundred years, but this may decrease if the prescribed good conduct is not adhered to.
In todays present scenario it has become really important for each one of us to maintain a good health. With so much of pollution in the environment, food adulteration, untimely working hours and unhealthy lifestyle it has become mandatory for everyone to look after our health. That's why the Ayurvedic dincharya ( Daily Regimen ) is to be followed in accordance with the present context. Ayurvedic life-regimens are simple, non-invasive, non-traumatic and generally do not interfere with other form of treatment. Right from waking up in the morning till sleeping at night all daily routines are according to our present need.Waking up:
Everyone has heard about famous saying that “early to bed & early to rise make man healthy ,wealthy &wise”The saying is time tested and accepted worldwide .Ayurved has recommended special timing for that person should wake up early in the morning one & half hour before sunrise .
This time is called Brahma Mahurata & this time very suitable for meditation & self analysis .This time is consider time best for acquiring knowledge & also best for offering prayer to God & study.
Evacuation of Bowel
It is good sign to get natural urge to evacuate just after rising from bed .It should kept in mind that one should never defecate forcefully .After defecation anal region should be properly washed with water.
Washing of Mouth ,hand &Legs
After defecation mouth hands & feet should be thoroughly wash .One should clean his body properly after removing any kind of waste from eye ,ears , nose before & after taking food ,after getting from bed ,before worship & after coming home from outside etc.
Brushing teeth:
Ayurveda recommends brushing with twigs of neem, babul etc instead of a toothbrush. A plant twig are used to brush .Twig are selected from plant having diameter of your little finger .It is crushed by teeth and make brush of it’s one end.
Tongue Care
After cleaning teeth tongue should clear carefully .Tongue cleaning & scrapping is advised .Tongue cleaner should be made up of gold, silver, copper& bark of twig can be used for tongue cleaning .
Washing of face
After defecation mouth hand & feet are thoroughly washed with the help of decoction (Kadha) plant. There are various decoction for wash. Especially Emblica officinalis(Awala) decoction can be used for face.
Nasya(Nasal Drops)
The administration of drugs through the nose, is called Nasya. Nasya is particlarly useful in the treatment of diseases occurring in the organs situated above the clavicle. It will promote the functions of the sensory and motor organs above the clavicle. It specifically provides strength to the head, nose and neck. Indirectly it works on the whole body by improving the functioning of the endocrine glands. It will prevent premature wrinkling, greying and falling of the hair
Gandush,Kaval dharan (Mouth Care)
Ayurved maintain proper mouth hygiene by Gandush & Kaval dharan daily .Both these are form of gargling .For this oil .medicated oil ,decoction of various plant is used for healing ulcers ,soothing & various mouth diseases .
Dhumapan (Medical smoking)
Ayurved mention that after performing above mention procedure go for Dhumapan (Medical Smoking) in which application of aromatic & soothing herbs for medical smoking .This method is useful for disease of above neck organs
Tambul Bhakshasan(Chewing of beetle leaf)
Tambul is prepared by a couple of Tambul Patra(beetle leaf) it contain slightly scented ,pungent & astringent .It contains jatiphal(Myristi cafragrans),Lavang(Syzagium aromaticum),kapur(Cinnamomum camphora) ,Kankol(Piper cubeba) ,Supari( areca catechu) etc are herbs which accompanied with beetle leaf.
Abhyangam(Massage)
In Ayurved it is clearly mentioned that every one must have massage every day. Regular massage is the key to good health, and is necessary both for prevention and cure of diseases. Ayurved also give option for those people not having time to do whole body oil massage they can apply oil over head, ear,palms & soles.
Exercise
Any physical activity which created feeling of tiredness in body come under exercise. Exercising body become enthusiasm, proportionate & light .It increase appetite ,fat get reduce, muscular strength increases, tolerance of body .Exercise is consider best done when done half of body strength of an Individual. When sweat appear on forehead & armpit & respiration become quick & one is forced to breath by mouth, exercise is stopped.
Bath
Bath should be taken after massage & exercise .For washing head water should not too hot or too cold. Using hot water below pelvic region suppose to increase strength of body .Bathing increases strength, relieves fatigue, cleans body ,improves appetite, gives pleasant sensation to body .
